We bough this mini back in 2005 and has some great fun in it for a couple of years, making the most of the go‑kart handling, simple engineering and the huge grin factor.
In 2007 we had some grand ideas to pop in a 1275 and do some work on it. It went into the garage and the 998 engine came out, then life took over and it sat in the garage for several years. We managed to get it moved to repair garage for some work but other than a few bits on the bulkhead it was left alone. It came home a few years ago and has been under cover out the front ever since, now it needs a new home.
Mini Shell (blue)
998cc engine that will need stripping cleaning and putting back together as its been out of the engine bay for 15 years.
1275cc engine - Bought as a replacement, will need stripping cleaning and rebuilding.
Manual gearbox from the 998.
Replacement Passenger Door that has been stored inside for many years and in great condition.
Replacement bonnet and some replacement sills (I think drivers side from memory)
Alloy Wheels, wider plastic arches, grill, bumper and lots of of other spares and bits
V5 present - At some point in its life its been re-shelled.
This is a true restoration project, ideal for someone who loves Minis and wants to bring it back to life. It will need welding and bodywork in the usual Mini areas, but tit is a good starting point for a full rebuild. The replacement door and bonnet give you a head start on some of the key panels.
Both engines come with the car, giving you real flexibility to either keep it classic with the 998 or go for the more powerful and desirable 1275. Either way, you’re starting with a solid options for a brilliant build.
