1945 Boxing Poster BUDDY HOLDERFIELD STAR MURILLO Army Navy ARKANSAS

This is an advertisement for a boxing match in 1945. I believe the location is in the Philippines. Writing on side of ad reads: "One of the ways these Filipinos are getting rich. You'd think these would be good fights, but believe me, they stink." Appears to have been sent home by a US serviceman and note at the bottom reads: "Save this for me."

Good vintage condition. This is printed on an 8 x 11 piece of paper that has been folded. Has writing from original owner. No odors or tears. See photographs.

Buddy Holderfield was the first boxer from Arkansas to have ever won the National Golden Gloves. He later went pro and lived in North Little Rock Arkansas. He fought 48 professional bouts. He had a record of 27 wins, 20 losses and one draw. He was known for his clever fighting styles that won crowds over. He helped out at the North Little Rock Boy's Club and their boxing team. Holderfield was involved in professional boxing (1946-1955)
