This is a vintage divided back postcard, postally used and postmarked 1911 from Long Beach, California. Postcard features a view of Craig's Shipyards in Long Beach, California.  In 1908, Craig Shipbuilding began dredging the Port of Long Beach harbor and began the shipyard pictured. Built cargo and military ships until after World War II. Afterward, the shipyard provided repair work until it closed in 1970.  Postcard has a typewritten message on back, which refers to battleships being built and burning oil instead of coal.
