The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám is an 1859 translation from Persian to English by Edward Fitzgerald of a selection of quatrains (ruba’iyat) attributed to Omar Khayyam (1048–1131), dubbed "the Astronomer-Poet of Persia".

This 1947 version, with a red cover, has stunning illustrations by Robert Stewart Sherriffs.  There is an introduction by Laurence Housman and it contains the First, Second and Fourth translations by Fitzgerald, and notes on the variations between them.  Finally, there is a Comparative Table.

At the time of listing, we have around 30 different copies of this seminal work listed on our ebay site for sale.  They have all been donated (from a private collector) to raise funds for the Vale and Downland Museum in Wantage.

If you would be interested in purchasing more than one, and making offers, or combining postage, for instance, please do get in touch.  Do bear in mind, however, that we are a Charity and our aim is to raise the maximum from this incredible donation to support our work and keep preserving our past for the future.
