The Lens Support Bracket is designed specifically for cameras mounted on brackets with 15mm rods and provides secure and stable support for long lenses on lightweight cameras where the lens weight might play havoc on the cameras mount.  I've had it as a spare for a number of years and I'm shedding some of my unused gear.
