• Description: This highly collectible item is a 1917 hardback edition of "The Lost World" by Arthur Conan Doyle, published by the first publishers Hodder & Stoughton in London. This early edition of the science fiction novel is a collector's item of 109 years of age.
As a valuable piece of English literature, this hardback version holds a special place in the hearts of fans and collectors of Doyle's work.
The Lost World is an adventure and science fiction novel by British writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle recounting an expedition to a remote plateau in the Amazon basin of South America where dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals still survive, along with a tribe of vicious ape-like creatures that are in conflict with a group of indigenous Indians.
The work introduces the character of Professor Challenger, who leads the expedition (and who would appear in later Conan Doyle stories), and is narrated in the first person by the journalist member (Edward Malone) of the exploration party.
The Lost World appeared in serial form in the Strand Magazine, illustrated by New-Zealand-born artist Harry Rountree, during the months of April through November 1912 and also was serialized in magazines in the United States from March to November 1912.
Hodder & Stoughton published the first book edition in October 1912 in Great Britain (London), with printings as well in the United States (New York) and in Canada (Toronto).

• Condition: Good for 109 years but a few pages have small damage to the edges (shown in listing grid photos), this was acquired with the home made illustrated dust cover - The photos are of the Actual item so please study carefully before buying and if you have any questions it's easier for both yourself and me if you please ask before receiving the item & having to return it
