This Alebrije is a hand-carved, hand-painted wooden polar bear with a river of fish on his back, and was purchased by me around 2010 at the workshop "Alebrijes Ivan Fuentes Y Mayte" in San Martin Tilcajete outside of Oaxaca. Made with traditional techniques, this handmade collectible showcases the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of Mexico. The polar bear does have a small, stable crack on the bottom (see photo). This sometimes happens due to the wood and does not impact the design at all and is undetectable unless you pick it up. These pieces are so fun and imaginative! It's a great conversation piece! Measures about 8" long x 3" wide x 3" tall.
