Vintage 1950s first aid box belonging to the 10th Blackpool Scout Group, a youth organization based at St. John’s Church Parish Hall in Blackpool, England. Constructed of thin wood, with original white enameled paint, complete with metal carrying handles, brass hinges, and metal clasp closure. Large open interior. The box is marked “10TH BLACKPOOL” in red lettering on the lid and features a red cross symbol indicating its use for first aid supplies. This chest would have been stored at the scout hall headquarters and accessed as needed for scout activities and events, like hikes, camping trips, and other youth activities.

The 10th Blackpool Scout Group operated as part of Blackpool’s scouting district, which has been active for over a century. Boy Scouts were founded in 1908, and Blackpool established numerous scout groups throughout the early-to-mid twentieth century.

The box shows heavy wear consistent with service use including paint loss, scratches, and oxidation throughout, contributing to its authentic utilitarian surface. As found condition. Displays heavy distressing and wear from use and age. Missing paint, paint/discoloration, rust, dirt, marks, dings, scratches, gaps in the trim, warping, etc. present throughout. Please see pictures.
