Here is your chance to own an unbelievably rare piece of MLB history. This pennant is from the 1955 World Series that saw the New York Yankees pitted against the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was a legendary series and would be the only time that the Dodgers would win a World Championship in Brooklyn.
Part of the 1955 revelry were these colorful and ornate pennants with this original red version being quite rare and desirable. This is a full-sized pennant measuring approximately 28” long x 13” high. The two team's stadiums and manager’s names are pictured on the left side.
What makes this particular pennant so exemplary is that the tips are un-cut. This pennant is most often found with a double tip as owners would cut the excess felt at the end of the pennant. Only two examples of this pennant have sold on eBay in the past three years, both of which had cut tips. While other uncut pennants may exist, in my research, I have yet to find another. This one was last purchased as one of the premier auction listings from Inside the Park Collectibles in 2007 and has been in a private collection since.
It is bright and clean and except for some light fading along the top border (see video of this being pointed out), it is in very good condition. The original blue fringe on the left border is still fully intact. One would be hard pressed to find a nicer example. Do not miss this opportunity to own this classic pennant.
