Fully functional, repaired, and tested stereo for Mercedes from mid to late 1990s used in several cars (W140, R129, W210) Excellent like-new cosmetic condition. AM/FM works. Weather band works. Tape works. CD (input) works. All buttons tested. Display is fully functional without missing pixels. All backlighting works.
Becker BE1492. Not to be confused with the more common BE1692 (buttons are a different shape)
All of these stereos suffer from the rotary encoder (volume knob) going bad. When you try to turn the volume down, it goes up or does not respond. The volume knob rotary encoder has been de-soldered from the circuit board and replaced with a brand new rotary encoder (/itm/294293222868), so the volume knob works perfectly. There are no direct replacements, so the new rotary encoder tip had to be filed down so the button sticks out the appropriate amount.
Additionally, the volume knob itself has been replaced with a new high quality rubberized replacement from ebay seller Germanaudiotech (/itm/155636918533). The original volume knob is worn but in serviceable condition and will be included, although it is not in the pictures. The other cheaper replacement volume knobs are very low quality and should be avoided.
The pigtail with the main stereo harness connector is not in the pictures but it WILL be included. The pigtail for the CD changer will NOT be included. The grounding wire pigtail will NOT be included. The antenna pigtail will NOT be included.
The stereo code has been decoded from the serial number and is clearly written on the case (22412). To decode, enter the code with the stereo preset buttons and then press the "SC" button. After 3 failed attempts, the stereo will be locked for 15 minutes. After 3 more failed attempts, the stereo will be locked for 24 hours (key-on time).
This stereo was not stored in a junkyard and left to rust. Since removal, it has been stored in a well padded box in my house.
Sold as-is and as described above. There is no warranty.
