The reason for this is relatively simple; most modern propane appliances use the newer ACME QCC1 connection type. The QCC1 connection type has become a standard feature on propane tanks and devices everywhere, making it difficult to use a POL-style tank. If you have a POL-style propane tank, you may have to purchase separate regulators or a new propane tank entirely just to use your gear.
