✅ What Makes This Mat Different
Shallow cuts from hobby knives and scalpels close up over time. The surface stays smooth instead of becoming scarred and uneven after heavy use. Extends the mat's usable life significantly.
Two soft outer layers let the blade "sink in" without bouncing. A hard white core in the middle stops deep cuts and keeps the mat rigid. This sandwich design protects your desk while being kind to blade edges.
Both sides have a printed measurement grid – one lighter, one darker. Flip to suit your lighting, eye comfort, or the colour of parts you're cutting. AK notes this dual-tone feature is currently unique to their mats.

💡 Care Tips
- Store flat – don't roll or bend. Leaning vertically is fine short-term; flat storage keeps it perfectly even.
- Clean with water – wipe off paint, glue residue, and dust with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh solvents.
- Keep away from heat – PVC can warp if left in direct sunlight or near radiators.
- Rotate cutting area – use different sections of the mat to spread wear evenly and maximise self-healing life.
📐 Is A3 the Right Size?
A3 (300 × 420 mm) fits comfortably on most hobby desks and covers the typical working area for:
- 28-32mm miniatures and their bases
- 1/72, 1/48, and smaller 1/35 scale model components
- Cutting styrene strips, masking tape, and small PE sheets
- General desk protection during assembly and painting
If you build larger 1/35 vehicles, ships, or big dioramas, consider whether A2 would suit your workflow better. A3 is ideal for focused work areas and smaller desks.
