A decorative vintage needlepoint rug in the Aubusson manner, featuring a rich red ground with repeating floral medallion panels and classical border detailing in cream, beige and soft green tones.
Hand-worked in wool on a canvas ground, the rug has a formal, architectural feel inspired by traditional French Aubusson designs. Ideal for use in a hallway, bedroom, study or beneath occasional furniture, where its pattern and colour can be appreciated.
There is visible wear to the edges and backing, including some fraying, consistent with age and use (please see photographs). This does not detract from the rug’s decorative appeal and gives it an attractive, time-worn character.
