This engraving was based on a "likeness from a recent photograph from life" by Johnson, Fry & Co. Publishers, New York and entered according to an act of Congress in 1862, all of which information (along with his facsimile signature) beneath the engraved image. Also it reads: Painted ~ Alonzo Chappel. In it one can see newspapers trampled under his feet declaring Jeff Davis' Confederate Secession as Lincoln holds a copy of the Constitution on his lap beneath the pedestal bust of George Washington. It is printed on paper that measures approx. 8" by 10.5" and has a blank reverse side. Very good condition and most suitable for framing which I'll leave up to you. Thanks for looking at this auction.
