YOU MUST MEASURE YOUR DRIVESHAFT AND COMPARE. VARIATIONS TO THE DRIVESHAFT OCCURED OVER THE COURSE OF THESE TWO MOTOR PRODUCTION RUNS FROM THE LATE 1970’s to the MID 1990’s.


THE SHIFT SHAFT CAN BE EASILY SWAPPED FROM YOUR GEARCASE TO THIS ONE IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT MODEL SIMPLY BY UNSCREWING IT. YOU MUST HAVE THE SAME LENGTH DRIVESHAFT LOOK AT THE PICTURES FOR FITMENT.


WILL BE SHIPPED WITH NO OIL FOR COMPLIANCE WITH SHIPPING LAWS. IMPELLER SHOULD BE REPLACED IT HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED THIS IS COMMON SENSE WITH ANY USED GEARCASE.


SHIFT ROD MAY BE SHIPPED REMOVED TO HELP DECREASE SHIPPING COSTS FOR YOU. SHIFT ROD *MUST* BE RECALIBRATED AFTER REINSTALLATION OR THE GEARCASE WILL NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. YOUR SHIFT CABLE SHOULD BE RECALIBRATED TOO WHENEVER REPLACING A GEARCASE.


If you dont know how to do this pay $10 for a service manual on ebay and read. It is very easy to do but does require basic technical understanding. You DO NOT simply ‘bolt it on and go!’ There is a simple service procedure to do things the right way.


Please dont contact me saying you are missing forward or reverse gear if you didnt bother to follow these directions. An improperly calibrated shift rod and or cable will cause this and gearcase “chattering/damage” because the gearcase is not fully shifted into gear due to miscalibration.


Most sellers do not take the time to explain this. I have provided these instructions as a courtesy and to show Ebay, in an event a buyer says they didnt know, that this subject was covered and it is due to error on the buyers behalf not mine. So dont even try pulling that maneuver it ‘AINT GONNA WORK!’
