This is a Stunning and Desirable piece of Vintage 1940's British Gold Jewellery. Made in 9ct Yellow Gold it is a Plain Band Ring that is D-Shaped, meaning it is Curved to the Outside but relatively Flat to the Inside and with Straight Sides which could be used as a Wedding Band or for any other purpose. The Ring is Fully Hallmarked as photographed on the inside of the shank with H.S for the Maker's Mark, 9 and .375 for the Gold Purity, the Anchor Mark for Birmingham Assay Office, the Date Letter Y for 1948 and it has been electronically tested at a precious metal refinery to confirm the Gold Content. It weighs 1.8g, is a UK size M 1/2 or approx. a US size 6 1/2 and the Band is 2mm wide x 1mm thick. The Ring is in a used and fairly good condition for its age with no damage but with a reasonable amount of minor surface wear. As can be seen in the last photo the shank is fractionally out of shape but this will quickly mould to a new finger so does not detract. The box in the photos is for display purposes only and is not the one the Ring will be posted out in.
