This is a sparkling large yellow Apatite gemstone. You won't find this gem in ordinary jewelry stores as it fairly rare and is mostly known by collectors of gems. Apatite is a natural phosphate mineral that comes in several several shades of blue, green, yellow and purple. Most people are familiar with the bright aqua blue color, but the other colors are less known as they are not as plentiful as the blue variety. This yellow gem with a golden tinge is large in size and is eye and beautifully cut. The fact that it is clean without any noticeable inclusions makes it special since yellow Apatite crystals are usually small, cloudy and included. This yellow gem is so clean that it sparkles in the light and it often picks up flashes of other colors in the room around it. The price of Apatite gems go up by carat weight, clarity and color and range about $50 to $100 per carat. Since I bought this gem at a good price years ago, I am offering it at a price way below today's market price. This gem weighs about 12.90 carats and is 18X13 mm in size with a depth of 8.5 mm. You can see the exact measurements in the photos of the gem in the mm gauge.

I have decided to sell some gemstones that at one time I had the intention to use in jewelry, but never got around to it. I enlarge my gem photos to show cut and clarity, but keep in mind the stones are usually smaller than the photos, so please pay attention to the measurements listed in the description. The colors might look different on different monitors so double check my description for color. Light stones seem to photograph with dark highlights, but there are no black or brown areas in this stone, it is all one color, but tends to reflect colors around it. I always say the weight is "about" a certain amount of carats because I realize that not all weight calculators weigh in exactly the same and can be off by a tiny fraction up or down, but all in all my weight calculations are fairly accurate.

Please note I am not a gem dealer. I collected stones all my life and studied colored gems at the GIA. I'm just selling several pieces I that never had the opportunity to use, and I'd like to see them go to someone who will enjoy and use them.  I do not accept returns, as my goal is to thin out my collections now that I have retired, so please be sure you really love this gemstone before you buy and feel free to ask any questions you might have as I love to chat about gemstones.

All of my listings ship free of charge in the USA. I do not sell overseas at this time. Note that eBay is required to collect taxes, so most likely a tax charge will be added to this purchase.
