Description: This is a stunning, authentic antique Kuba cloth, also known as a raffia textile or Madiba, originating from the Kuba Kingdom in the Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Handwoven by men and embroidered by women using traditional techniques, this piece showcases the rich cultural heritage and abstract geometric designs for which Kuba textiles are renowned. The intricate, maze-like patterns are created using a combination of flat weave and cut-pile or appliqué techniques, resulting in a unique, tactile texture. The natural earth tones of beige, brown, and black are achieved using traditional vegetable dyes.
