Martin Shenandoah OOO-2832 1980's 1980s (no251103)

Shenandoah was born in 1983. It was a brand launched with the aim of creating affordable guitars during the acoustic downturn of the time. In the 1980s, Martin assembled and finished the bodies and necks made in Japan. After a period of completely domestic production, the brand came to an end. This instrument is the "OOO-2832," manufactured as an OOO-28 model. It was manufactured in the 1980s. Features include a spruce top, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and dotted fingerboard positions. The Shenandoah brand is said to have accounted for more than 25% of Martin's sales from 1984 to 1987, and was one of the factors that helped the company overcome its difficult times. Based on a standard Martin model, it features plywood back and sides. It came standard with a Thinline-332 pickup and an adjustable truss rod. During production under this brand, the pickguard adhesive method was also revised, and later, the Martin brand also adopted the adjustable truss rod and post-attached pickguard method. Later, Martin released a model using plywood, utilizing the know-how cultivated at the brand. While this brand marked a turning point in Martin's history, production under Martin ceased after about nine years. This instrument's OOO size offered excellent mobility and ease of handling, as well as a well-balanced sound. Another attractive feature was its ability to bring out the best in the bass without overwhelming the high notes. Furthermore, the range was more mid-range-oriented than the D size, resulting in a denser, more highly resolved sound. It offered the benefits of a beautiful resonance with the fingers, crisp arpeggios, and the ability to easily convey the feel of chords through the separation of notes even with strumming. This versatile guitar is easy to handle regardless of playing style, easy to hold and play even for those who only play guitar, and boasts a powerful tone. The base of the headstock is painted black, but there are no signs of cracks or breaks, making it in perfect condition for use. While there are some minor scratches, some deeper ones, minor dents, and scratches around the soundhole, these are not problematic for use, and there are no cracks in the wood, so it's still in good condition for continued use. The neck is in excellent condition, and while the remaining saddle is slightly reduced for an instrument from that era, the string height is set for a modern setting, providing excellent playability. While the Shenandoah was produced as a budget model, its influence on the original Martin brand's history is subtle. It was a brand that helped the original Martin survive a difficult time for acoustic guitars. This guitar offers a glimpse into its history and is relatively affordable, making it an affordable choice. Please consider this.
