Greetings,
Thank you for your interest in my artistry. This is an oil painting on canvas .
Painted on location. I always seek to find the energy of light and shadow. It is the emotional connection to the scene that draws me in. I enjoy wilderness and natural settings for my subjects. Sometimes I paint from the roadside or hike in or paint from my small rowboat. My set up is portable and efficient . Over the years I have learned what works and have simplified my process. Typically I complete 90% of a painting in the field with the final strokes being applied back at my home studio. It is an adventure and a pursuit and I am motivated by the endless beauty of America. These days I have been visiting National Parks and finding a never ending source of inspiration. It is a blessing to be able to get out and paint. My works have been collected throughout the states and beyond. I am also known for my art glass lighting and stained glass. I incorporate many of my painting concepts into these works.
Painting is offered with an Adirondack frame of birch bark and sapling twig frame .
This was painted with a few others on a stretch of the Hudson River in upstate NY.
The river is pretty narrow there compared to what it becomes.
