DiagROM is a diagnostic replacement ROM that helps pinpoint hardware problems. It replaces the standard Kickstart ROM and runs a series of tests on the system, even if there is no video output. It can be used to diagnose issues with memory, the CIA chips, and interrupts, and provides output to a serial port for viewing on another computer.
How it works:
  • ROM replacement: You physically replace the Amiga's standard Kickstart ROM with the DiagROM chip.
  • Diagnostic boot: When you power on the Amiga, DiagROM starts automatically instead of the normal operating system. Minimal hardware requirements: It is designed to run with very few components working, making it effective on a broken machine.
  • Serial output: If the Amiga's video is not working, DiagROM can send its diagnostic information through a serial port (requiring a USB-to-serial adapter and a terminal program).
  • Test results: DiagROM performs various tests, such as checking RAM, audio, interrupts, and the keyboard, and reports the results through a menu on the screen or via the serial port.
