The 1905-1906 tour was the first of several "farewell" tours Bernhardt made to the United States. She toured extensively, performing in both major and smaller venues across the country. This particular tour was complicated by a dispute with the Theatrical Syndicate, which led Bernhardt to perform in tents and independent theaters. Despite the challenges, the tour was highly anticipated by audiences who believed it would be their last chance to see the "Divine Sarah" perform.
