"The Marriage of the Princess Royal."

A splendidly ornate supplement from the Illustrated London News, dated January 30th 1858, celebrating the marriage of Victoria Adelaide, the Princess Royal to Crown Prince Frederick William of Prussia.

The covers, and the ornate Bridal Song are in full colour.

On the front there are vignettes of Berlin, and the middle pages are filled with Frank Romer's "Bridal Song." The back has a full-page portrait of the wedding couple out riding, again the image surrounded by ornate foliage. This must be one of the most extravagant supplements that the magazine ever published.

Four pages are devoted to text, describing the courtship, and with details of the wedding itself including what music there was at the ceremony, and what presents the couple received.

Size: each page measures approx. 42cms x 30cms. There are 8 pages in all.

Condition: Horizontal fold in the middle. The odd small stain here and there, but generally in a good condition. Please study the photographs.
