OEM Secondary Driven Clutch Cam Helix/spring and rollers— 48/52 Angle

Can-Am Maverick X3 R, DS, RR / Defender HD9 & HD10 — 185-205HP Applications

This kit includes the OEM Can-Am helix, OEM Can-Am spring, and MCB's improved impact-resistant rollers — a direct replacement for models that originally came with, or have been tuned to, 185-205HP.

What's Included

  • 1x OEM Can-Am secondary cam helix, 48/52 angle — P/N 420280846
  • 1x OEM Can-Am secondary spring — P/N 420618126
  • 1x Set of MCB impact-resistant improved rollers — replaces OEM P/N 417127016

Fitment

ModelNotes
Maverick X3 RR195HP — this is the correct stock angle
Maverick X3 DS, R, XRS, XDSWhen tuned to 185-210HP
Defender HD9 / HD10When tuned to higher HP than stock

This is also a great value if you simply need to replace your rollers and helix after a roller failure damaged the helix — a common failure point on higher-HP applications running worn stock components.

Need a different angle or a fully custom setup?

Many other helix angles are available for custom applications. MCB can custom build a clutch kit specific to your exact year, model, tire size, riding style, and modifications — understanding what helix angle, spring rate, and flyweight mass to run based on your setup. Proper calibration reduces load on the motor, clutches, and belt, significantly improving longevity after modifications like larger tires or added HP.

Real-world example: a farmer in Montana running a Defender HD10 at 8,500 ft elevation with 33" tires, using the machine primarily for towing heavy loads and plowing snow, puts extreme load on clutches and a belt originally calibrated for 0-4,500 ft elevation and general trail use. MCB can calibrate the correct helix angle, spring rate, and weight combination to significantly reduce that load and extend component life.

  • Exact year, make, and model
  • Tire size (very critical)
  • Added HP via a tuner (how much over stock, or total known HP)
  • Elevation (0-4,500 ft, or above 4,500 ft)
  • Riding style — low-speed torque, midrange trail, high-speed roads, plowing, towing, etc.

Prices vary depending on your specific build. This particular listing at $169.95 is for the standard 48/52 helix kit shown above — message us for a custom quote outside this spec.
