Here's a little tray that punches well above its weight.
This antique Japanese Imari-style dish brings that classic blue and coral colour combo with peonies and geometric panels that just work.
- Proper traditional Imari aesthetic
- Compact 6" x 4" size - perfect for jewellery, keys, or display
- Octagonal shape with panelled border design
- Hand-painted style decoration
You're looking at a rectangular dish with an octagonal rim, decorated in the classic Imari palette of underglaze blue and iron-red (coral). The centre features a floral arrangement with peonies, smaller blossoms, and foliage. The border alternates between geometric diaper patterns, wave motifs, and floral panels. There's a metal rim around the edge which shows age-appropriate tarnishing and wear.
This is vintage porcelain, so it's got a bit of history on it. The glaze shows light surface scratching and general use marks consistent with age. The metal rim has darkened and shows oxidation - some areas more than others. There's a small chip to one corner of the rim (visible in the photographs). The base shows staining and light discolouration. No cracks detected. Still displays beautifully.
What's included: Just the tray as shown.
Having said all of that, please view all of the images for a full description and make your own assessment of the condition before buying.
