London Midland Railway brass pay check

A ‘London Midland Railway’ pay check, appears to be of brass and a token or tally used by the London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS) for employee identification and pay purposes. These checks were apparently issued to workers, often retained throughout their employment, and used to collect wages or track attendance. Weighs approx 30gms and approx 4cm x 3cm and apparently originally sold by Winchcombe Railway Museum.

Proceeds from the sales of donated items go to THE JOINT HERITAGE COACH FUND, for the restoration of the Society’s historic carriages and wagons.
