You are buying an old French army Modèle 59 "casquette bigeard" cap in lizard camouflage. Used by the French army parachutists troops. It was named after its creator, General Marcel Bigeard, a veteran of the World War II, the Indochina and Algeria Wars, invented this hat to replace the colorful and less practical colored headgear worn by the French Army in its war in Indochina. This bigeard hat is from the period between the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The cap is in excellent lightly used condition, flawless. Made of 100% cotton. Manufactured in France. Size US 7 or 7 1/8 (European 56-57). The dimensions are as follows:

head - approx 56-57 cm (US 7 or 7 1/8)
weight - 40 gr (0.1 lb.)
