Vintage copper Distillatore Alambicco Torció - never used

An alambicco torcio is not a specific distillery, but rather an artisanal distilling system, particularly for making Italian grappa. The term combines alambicco (alembic) and torcio (press) to describe a traditional batch distillation method using pomace.

This system consists of several copper parts designed to handle pomace, the grape skins, seeds, and stalks left over from winemaking.

Boiler (caldaia): A large pot that holds the pomace.

Press basket (torcio): A pierced or perforated basket sits inside the boiler and holds the pomace, allowing steam to pass through it.

Head (campana): A bell-shaped copper cap that fits over the basket to collect the rising vapors.

Condenser (serpentina): A coiled tube, typically inside a water-filled container, where steam is cooled and condenses back into a liquid.
