An Oklahoma Tragedy.  The Shooting of the Mexican Students, 1931.  By Abraham Hoffman.  Softcover, pub. 1987, 75 pages.  Stated as first edition.  Good condition, some light scratching to front cover.  In June 1931 three Mexican students attending college in the United States were accosted by deputy sheriffs in Carter County, Oklahoma.  Two students were shot dead.  The episode quickly drew international interest when it became known that one of the dead youths was a close relative of the Mexican president.  The governor of Oklahoma, Alfalfa Bill Murray, stage-managed an elaborate funeral and promised the Mexican government that justice would be served.  The book describes the complexities of the case, the trials and the author examines the international and local interpretations.  S&H $6.00 media mail.
