"Now, will you understand, that in the absence of a Writ of Monitia, the Marshal has had nothing to do with her, consequently has no release to make -- My object in writing you, is to ascertain what shall be done, under the Circumstances? I am somewhat at a loss to know in whose hand she has been, since her seizure, - whether the Marshal or the Collector -- If you have any costs - please state them. "Yours in haste, Clark Robinson, U.S.M. "To J. A. Spencer, U.S. Atty Clark Robinson does appear on an Internet Search of "State-by-State Chronological List of U. S.
