This 3 1/2 inch (9 cm) beauty is extremely rare. I am the original owner and received it at a special Steiff event in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1995, as one of the founding members of the German Steiff Club. The event took place at the department store Hertie, which, sadly, closed its doors decades ago. The Hertie sticker remains on the box.

The porcelain is white, pristine, numbered 223 -- out of 5000 -- made by the prestigious German company Hutschenreuther. In this condition, Steiff Sortiment puts the value at around $150 (125 Euros).

The box is in nice vintage shape (see pics).

What a fantastic gift for any collector of Steiff, owls, Hutschenreuther porcelain, or anyone, really.

I'm an avid Steiff collector, not a professional seller. Every once in a while, I will try to raise funds for trips to see my mother in Germany, and I will offer some of my treasures for sale.
