Vintage RARE Beswick Beatrix Potter Figurine – Pickles (earliest model, BP2 gold oval Backstamp, 1971–1972), dog shopkeeper, gift-boxed VGC

Highly collectable and full of storybook charm, the Beswick Beatrix Potter figurines have been adored since 1948. With different backstamps, colourways and model versions—some rarer than others—they are no longer in production and becoming ever more sought after by collectors.

This is the earliest and rarest version of Pickles, the earnest terrier shopkeeper from Beatrix Potter’s world — captured here by Beswick with his black face, brown jacket, white apron and little pink book. This model was produced between 1971 and 1982, but this BP2 gold oval backstamp dates it specifically to 1971–72, during the very first year or two of release.

Modelled by Albert Hallam, this scarce early edition is now among the most valuable of the Beatrix Potter Beswick figures, prized for both its character detail and brief production window under the BP2 backstamp.
