1870s Austro-Hungarian Meteorological Postcard Agricola Wien 2kr Franz Joseph Weather Report

Description:

This rare postcard dates from the 1870s and was part of an early agricultural meteorological reporting system under the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Issued by the Actiengesellschaft für landwirthschaftliche Unternehmungen (“Agricola”) in Vienna, the card was designed for estate administrators to report daily weather conditions back to the central office.

Printed in both Hungarian and German, this bilingual Levelezési Lap (correspondence card) features a 2-kreuzer orange imprinted stamp with the profile of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The back includes pre-printed fields for weather observations, temperature, and remarks, along with the form number “AGRICOLA Form. 10”.
