Set of two original 1907 collotype postcards featuring Native American women from the Piegan and Blood Nations, both photographed on horseback in traditional attire:
1. “Old Time Piegan Squaw with Travois and Papoose” – depicts a woman on horseback pulling a travois with a child seated in back.
2. “Blood Squaws in War Dress” – shows a group of women in full feathered war regalia on decorated horses, posed before a wooden fence and prairie homes.
Both postcards are copyrighted 1907 by A. N. & Co. and printed in Germany, a country renowned for its high-quality collotype printing process. The fine photographic detail and lightly stippled tonal range are characteristic of this early photomechanical technique. These were part of a popular ethnographic series at the turn of the century.
Great for collectors of Native American history, early postcard printing techniques, or Plains Nations representations.
