This painting would be a a sound investment and great addition to any collection. José Oliva Rodrigo (1855- ) José Oliva Rodrigo was born in Palencia around 1855. He was an artist like his more famed older brother Eugenio Oliva Rodrigo (1852-1925). The bothers were enrolled in the "Escuela Municipal de Dibujo de Palencia". He studied painting, sculpture and engraving, probably for a short time he lived in Barcelona. Later trips took the young artist to Rome and Madrid, where he was able to study alongside his brother, including at the "Escuela Superior de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado", a school associated with the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando. In 1878 Rodrigo presented a work at the National Exhibition in Madrid, which was followed by a greater participation in 1884 and 1887. When his brother Eugenio received a pension to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1879, it is very possible that José also lived for a time in the Italian capital.
