Paul Guest aka Monkey (1962 – 2021) was one of the founding fathers of contemporary blotter art. The quality and precision of his blotter art sheets are widely recognized among collectors. If there was any color discrepancy or a perforation not fitting right where it should, he would redo the job until it was done perfectly.
His perfectionism is the reason why most major artists went to him when they wanted to put their artwork on blotters. Paul was a beautiful person with a beautiful mind, friendly, generous and a true altruist, always helping and counseling confirmed collectors as well as new comers in the wonderful world of blotter art collecting.
Lucifer has been designing Blotter Art since the early 2000's after meeting 'Monkey' at Strawberry Sunday in London. They immediately became close allies in the blotter scene and between 2004 and 2008 produced their first set of designs together. Originally the first blotters they produced were made on J. Blackburn's Heidleberg press in the US until 2010 when Monkey purchased the printers and slowly had them shipped over to the UK piece by piece.
Today the original Heidelberg press responsible for thousands of well known blotter designs still runs and perforates as it has done for over 20 years but is now accompanied by 3 more auto platens and a KS cylinder press all dedicated to lithograph printing of the blotters themselves using plant based Dutch bio Inks, Chemical free paper and card stock. All their work is 100% non toxic and good enough to eat.
Perforated Blotter Art has transcended the underground market and is available to art lovers worldwide. It is art and contains no illegal chemicals! Trying to pass them off as containing drugs or dipping with research chemicals is illegal. Please keep your blotters as ‘art’ as care for these sheets will bring you prosperity and good karma!
