Succeeding on the first try! Then I started experimenting and found it be a great tool for making Chinese green onion pancakes. It?s a lot easier and more uniform than using the rolling pin. Glad that I bought it!
Makes life simpler but takes practice

Makes very small tortillas, like street Taco size, but I learned to press then roll them put a bit more with a rolling pin... still easier n more consistent than just rolling... I am not that talented.Very sturdy and well made! I will enjoy making my weekly Mexican bread now ( since my hubby insists on homemade)

I've seen a few of these tortilla press and this one is above them all. It is of a super quality, heavy and sturdy. If I didn't know, I'd say it was made in Mexico decades ago and for the price, it is a must have.

Nice heavy cast iron design. Easy to use. Using a thick 1 quart freezer bag is best to press with. The best advice I've found is make sure to let your dough set before you use it will make it easier to press and separate without tearing or breaking.

I've never made my own empanada dough before. I'm having trouble finding the GOYA puff pastry dough discs that I used to use. I just got this tortilla press a couple days ago so I had to try it. I have the 8-inch press. I found a nice empanada dough recipe online. I put a plastic bag round on the bottom of the press, topped with my 1.5 oz dough ball, topped with another plastic bag round and it presses it into a perfect round! I filled some with taco meat and cheese, some with ham and cheese and another with ground hot sausage, tomato gravy and mozzarella cheese. I'm going to do guava and cream cheese next. I'll sprinkle the dough with cinnamon sugar and then drizzle with a powdered sugar icing. Can't wait to try flour tortillas. I have trouble rolling out pie dough to be ROUND. I bet I can use this press to start my dough round and then continue with a rolling pin while turning the dough a 1/4 turn after each roll.

Advertises that you can make rotis with this but even after max press, the rotis are thick as tortillas. They don?t cook well and wouldn?t be tasty. You will need to roll them out thinner by hand which makes this contraption all but useless
