Lionel 1688 Gunmetal Locomotive w/ 2x 1689T Tenders – Prewar O Gauge – One Powered, One Dummy ------------ Offered here is a classic piece of Lionel history: Lionel Lines 1688 Gunmetal Gray Locomotive with two 1689T Tenders – one standard dummy tender (wheels only), and one that has been motorized and includes third-rail pickup and wiring. This prewar streamlined-style set is often referred to as part of the "Torpedo" or "Zephyr-inspired" Lionel designs of the late 1930s. Beloved by collectors and layout builders alike, this set features: 1688 Locomotive – Gunmetal gray finish, with visible wear consistent with age but overall very presentable. Unrestored, untested, sold as shown. 1689T Dummy Tender – Matching finish, non-motorized, for 2-rail display or use. 1689T Motorized Tender – Modified or possibly an unusual factory variant. Includes electric motor and third-rail contact, condition untested. Great candidate for restoration or display. These are prewar Lionel O-gauge items and not guaranteed to run unless serviced or restored. Please examine photos carefully and feel free to ask for more details.
