An important early work in the history of psychiatry, the study, analysis and treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders. The French Jansenist theologian Jacques Joseph Dughet (Montbrison 1649 - Paris 1733), author of many books, was professor of philosophy at Troyes and of theology in Paris. He left the Congregation of the Oratory when an edict was issued against Cartesianism (the philosophy of R. Descartes) and Jansenism. He had to leave France and take refuge in Brussels and then in the Netherlands.Jacques Joseph Duguet is a theologian considered one of the most eminent French moralist writers1. He was born in Montbrison on December 4, 1649, and died in Paris on October 25, 1733.
