This is a vintage World War 2, C. Stockert & Sohn, Marschkompass. "The Marschkompass was the official compass of the youth organisations (Hitler-Jugend, etc)." Two versions of the Marschkompass are known: the early one with a white chapter ring and a 50mm ruler and the later one with a black chapter ring and a 100mm ruler."  The rotation of the compass is fluid. The compass is about 2-1/2" x 2-1/4" x 3/4" closed (not including the tab that sticks out 3/8"). The casing is made of Bakelite and the inside is aluminum.
