Item Description

GUILD D-35 NT (1981) (no250526)

The -35 vintage is popular for its crisp, powerful sound.
It is a popular model with a simple design, but it has a good sound.
The Guild was originally a shop that sold musical instruments and held classes in New York in 1952, but when Epiphone was absorbed into Gibson in 1956, it took over the remaining craftsmen and factory equipment and started as a guitar manufacturer.
Until the mid-1980s, it was a popular brand on par with Martin and Gibson, and many famous artists used it, making it a highly popular instrument.
However, in 1986, the company sold the business, and after that, several parent companies were changed, the factory was relocated, and the main models were made in China.
In recent years, it has been reproduced in the United States, but it is a different instrument from the vintage models up until the 1980s.
The D-35 was released in 1968 as the BLUGRASS D-35. In 1973, it was remodeled, and its characteristic is a harder sound that feels heavier than the previous light feeling.
This instrument is a 1981s, and the weight of the instrument itself is heavy, with a solid and powerful sound.
The top is spruce, and the sides and back are mahogany. It has a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and Jacaranda bridge.
The tuning pegs are original GUILD-stamped Rotomatics, and they work smoothly.
The nut and saddle have been replaced, refretted, and the neck angle adjusted.
It has a dark amber color and small scratches scattered here and there, but it is in very good condition and has the same luster as when it was new.
There are marks on the painted surface of the back where something has been touching it for a long time. There is paint damage on the back of the neck around the 10th fret from a guitar stand.
It has a regular grip neck with a width of about 42.8 mm at the nut.
It has been adjusted straight, and the adjustment rod works well and is OK.
The string height is low at 2.2mm for the 6th string and 1.9mm for the 1st string at the 12th fret, but since it is a Guild with a lot of tension, even at this height it still has a powerful and dynamic sound.
The neck angle has been adjusted, and the saddle height is also OK.
It has a crisp, crunchy sound with a solid feel and a slightly rough tone.
Even with a delicate touch, it has volume and an edgy tone that is almost too crunchy.
In the 1970s, it was said to have a sound somewhere between a Martin and a Gibson, but it has a unique, hard sound that is different from both.
It comes with a general-purpose thermoplastic case.
