Customer Feedback from Forum:
We did some testing in Trenton a few weeks ago and from all angles my transmission was clear.
I have been able to conduct radio checks with aircraft approximately 16 miles away (I was North of Lake Washington talking to an airplane around Valkaria) and the communication both ways was clear.
We made up the C bracket with a tab on the top for the antenna.
The Antenna does not need a ground plane, the loaded element on the top forms the ground plane (I guess).
It's mounted vertically for optimum voice communication, and it's mounted back, away from instruments and pilot.
From my experimentation, getting it back away from things is critical.
