Douglas C-47 Skytrain (from English "air train") also called "Dakota" (DACoTA, or Douglas Aircraft Company Transport Aircraft) is one of the most popular transport aircraft from the Second World War. Produced by the USA, it was also used by the armies of other Allied countries. It was based on the draft civilian version of the Douglas DC-3. It performed on all fronts of World War II and was in operation long after its end. It was used, inter alia, for the landing of paratroopers and towing gliders, as well as for the transport of supplies, ammunition and the evacuation of the wounded.

The model made of COBI construction blocks showing the American Douglas C-47 Skytrain (Dakota) transport plane in a special D-Day Edition version issued on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy, has movable elements such as rotating wheels with rubber tires, movable propellers and wing ailerons, and opening door. The set also includes two figures of American soldiers: a pilot and a paratrooper from the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles" with a characteristic helmet and parachute backpack.
