Comments from the Artist:
This pot is woodfired in a two chambered Japanese style climbing kiln. A river of fire flows through the ware from the lower stoking of the kiln across to the chimney. The flames, over a period of 20 hours of stoking, deposits ash on the fire face of the pot, altering both the clay and glaze in subtle and often unpredictable ways. The pot is hand thrown on a potter's wheel. My love of the great folk pottery traditions, particularly of the Far East is evident in aspects of my work. In each pot, the clay, kiln, technique and the potter seek to find equal expression.
This pot is intended for daily use.
