Almost forgotten today is the fact that the NHL's Anaheim Ducks were the direct result of a film. The popular Disney movie "The Mighty Ducks" premiered in 1992, and featured a hard luck kids hockey team from District 5 in Minnesota that went on to defeat the hated, vaunted rival Hawks in the championship game. The film proved so successful that the league awarded the Walt Disney Company an expansion team just a few months after the film was released. The first Mighty Ducks jerseys sported the same "angry duck" logo as those worn in the sequel "D2" movie, but it was replaced by the "web foot" crest in 2006. That design has been scrapped as of 2024, making any "web foot" jerseys a thing of the past. It also exhibits the original "Reebok / MASKA" maker's tag at the interior lower left side, and carries the original barcode hang tag still attached at the left cuff, which is dated "16 9. 15" at back, denoting this sweater was made on September 16, 2015, and issued to the team in preparation for the "Hockey Fights Cancer" night held on November 1, 2015, in which these jerseys were worn for pre-game warmups. This jersey is distinguished as a team issued piece by the lack of a "Reebok" maker's label at the inside neck, and the double layer of stitching on the bottom of the fight strap at the interior lower back.
