Vintage c.1952 GP Omega Manual watch cal.283 ref. 2720-1 SC - Serviced

Large for an Omega watch of the early 50's, it's just completed a full service with new mainspring so ready to give years of pleasure to the new owner. I suppose you could call it oversized for the era.

A wonderful vintage Omega with desirable Teardrop shaped lugs.

It's in very presentable condition compared to the vast majority of the other gold plated ones I've seen on the market. It has a wonderful vintage hornback crocodile strap on it, which even got my watchmaker remarking on it.

The dial has patina and age-related marks, just as you would expect from a 70-year-old watch. Gold painted numbers between the applied hour batons. Gold coloured Dauphine hands and sweep seconds hand. Signed Omega in black. The acrylic crystal is lightly marked but no cracks or chips. Genuine Omega signed crown.

The case is gold plated to a very significant 80 microns thickness. It shows no signs of rubbing through however there is a little bit of plate chip on the edge of the case-back where the back cover was removed clumsily at some point. I haven't over polished either the case or the crystal as it lends itself to not looking brand new. It can be further improved by the new owner if they wish.

Inside, the case-back is fully marked Omega and the movement is the highly accredited Omega 283 calibre. In excellent condition. Images of the movement were taken before the service as I don't like to remove it afterwards.

Fitted with a glorious brown hornback crocodile strap. It has high relief and sets the watch off brilliantly. It is quite worn on the underside with some cracks but I've left it on because it suits the watch. The running band for it is a replacement PU leather one because it didn't have one on at all.

The dial has some spotting and a little discolouration but it isn't distracting. I've taken an angled macro image towards the end of the gallery so you can see. Please study all of the images carefully before committing.
