Multi-Purpose Sharpening Tool Made with professional-grade white corundum, the sharpening stone from Synra has a wide variety of uses. From household items like chef knives, kitchen shears and gardening tools to field and shop tools such as hatchets, axes, machetes, and lawnmower blades, the tool sharpens and polishes even the dullest and chipped edges. The grindstone works on all types of steel and stainless-steel tools, but do not use it on serrated blades or ceramic knives. This simple tool sharpener is rectangular in size (8” x 2” x 1”) and includes a no-slip rubber holder. Because this is a waterstone, no expensive oil is required, simply a little bit of water. The ergonomically designed rubber base ensures comfort, requires less effort and gives you complete control making sharpening tasks a breeze. Dual Grit for Fine and Coarse Grinding The high-quality Synra Axe Sharpener is a practical and convenient 2-in-1 grinding and sharpening tool. The double-sided whetstone has a 300-grit side and a 600-grit side. The higher the number, the finer the grit. For heavy-duty products, blade shaping and repairing very dull blades, the coarse side of 300 grit is the best choice. Coarse grinding gives your knife, blade or tool a razor-sharp edge just as good as a commercial edge. After you have created an edge with the coarse grit, the finer 600 grit side is used for final finishing touches and polishing. It's fine to ultra-fine grinding is perfect for repairing small gaps, removing burrs, light touch-ups and daily maintenance. How To Use the Whetstone 1. Begin by fully immersing and soaking the sharpening stone in water for approximately 10-minutes or until bubbles no longer appear. Throughout the sharpening process, sprinkle more water onto the stone as needed. The top surface should always be wet for the most effective sharpening. 2. For worn, nicked or dull edges, use the 300-grit coarse side first by sliding the blade edge along with the honing stone at a 10–20-degree angle. Apply light, consistent pressure and maintain a steady angle on both sides of the blade. 3. If tools or blades simply need a touch-up or polished edge, skip the coarse grinding step and begin with the 600-grit fine side. Use the same technique as the coarse side but with less pressure. Fine grinding is excellent for daily maintenance. 4. After sharpening your blade, wipe it with a wet cloth and set aside. Rinse the waterstone with a soft brush, then place in a ventilated area to dry and be used again on another day. Please Note: 1. Use the entire length of the grindstone (not just the middle) when sharpening to keep the stone even and longer-lasting. 2. Do not use the sharpening stone on serrated blades or ceramic knives.
