Chaki P-8 (250329) CHAKI Guitars was founded in Kyoto in 1947 as the Chaki Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which produces pick guitars and wood basses, and has since been praised for its unique atmospheric sound. It may look a little rough, but it is made using the traditional techniques unique to tea trees, and it produces a sound that is full of flavor. It is also known that Mr. Shiro Tsuji, who is known as a master craftsman, was employed there. It is also famous as the favorite instrument of the leading blues guitarist, Kantaro Uchida, and due to his influence, it remains very popular to this day. Body top is laminated spruce, sides and back are maple. Neck is maple, rose fingerboard. The bridge is ebony adjustable and is a TUNE-O-MATIC type. The pegs have been replaced with Krewson types, and the pickguard, truss rod cover, and control knob have also been replaced. The PU is equipped with a De Almond humbucker. There are some scratches and dents all over the instrument, but they are not serious and do not require repair. Also, there are two cracks on the top, but they are only on the surface of the plywood and do not penetrate inside. This is a regular grip neck with a slightly narrower and thinner nut width of about 42 mm. The adjustment rod turns but does not work. The neck is set straight and there is no need for adjustment at present. Since it is an old instrument, I think it is unlikely that the neck will move much in the future. The frets are original and about 60-70% of the height remains, and the string height is set to 2 mm for the 6th string and 1.5 mm for the 1st string above the 12th fret. It is adjustable, so you can adjust it to your desired height. While it has the loud, thick box sound typical of Chaki's full-size body, it also has a bright, glossy high tone with a clear grain. The withered tone has a bitter taste, and it sounds in a well-balanced manner up to the high positions. This is an instrument that you don't often see on the used market.
