What is Polysilazane Ceramic Car Coating?

COBALT Polysilazane Ceramic Car Coating Spray is a Professional Grade Polysilazane silicon-based polymer containing alternating silicon and nitrogen atoms. When used on most surfaces, Polysilazane converts into Super Ceramics, such as Si₃N₄, SiON, SiCN, SiCNO, or SiC. Polysilazanes are used as Super Ceramic Coatings on Automotive, Marine, RV, and Aviation surfaces, offering long-term benefits and protecting and maintaining the new surface look.

Durability tests for COBALT Ceramic Coatings

1. Pencil hardness test

• This test, also known as the Wolff-Wilborn test, is a standard method to measure the hardness and scratch resistance of coatings.
• It involves using a set of pencils with varying hardness levels (from soft 6B to hard 9H and even 10H) to scratch the coated surface.
• The hardest pencil that doesn't leave a permanent scratch on the coating determines its hardness rating.
• COBALT ceramic coatings claim to achieve 9H hardness when multi-layered.
• While 9H is the traditional maximum on the pencil hardness scale, some manufacturers and labs have adopted 10H pencils (like the Mitsubishi Hi-Uni 10H) for testing coatings that exceed the 9H standard.
