Japanese Lacquer Traditional Wooden Candy Box 6.3inch Gold Floral Maki-e W/Tray AH17
This antique Japanese lacquerware candy box is a beautifully crafted wooden piece with raden (mother-of-pearl) inlay, showcasing an intricate floral design. The lid features a finely crafted folding fan (sensu) handle, adding an elegant touch to the overall aesthetic.
Despite its age, the box remains in excellent condition with no noticeable damage. The raden inlay is well-preserved, maintaining its vibrant iridescence. The matching tray (shikibon) shows signs of aging with some visible fading, which can be seen in the provided images.
This versatile box can be used for storing sweets, small items, or as a decorative accent in a traditional Japanese setting. While there is no official certification, it was part of a personal collection of Wajima lacquerware, suggesting the possibility of being a Wajima-made piece.
